Psychological Therapy at Ace Psychology Ltd
Psychological Therapy is usually referred as to talking therapy, these are discussions between the therapist and the client to explore the way they see themselves and others. Often clients may have unhelpful ways of perceiving their situations and thus act according to their state of mind.
There are a number of psychological approaches to understand a person’s problem, such as Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Psychodynamic and Systemic Therapy. Sometimes therapy can involve a combination of these approaches; we at Ace Psychology work in an eclectic way, hence we may work with you using a one, two or even all of the above approaches.
Your role in therapy
Therapy is a cooperative interaction between you and your psychologist. Your active participation in the therapy process can greatly facilitate reaching your desired goals.
We often ask you to do things between appointments, such as think about various issues, keep diaries/records, read books or leaflets, try out techniques or suggestions, or practice things like relaxation exercises.
We will sometimes, if you agree, and if it is necessary, write letters or reports for other people, such as Doctors, Solicitors, or Insurance Companies. This will always be discussed with you beforehand.
We will usually agree with you a number of appointments for which we will see you. At the end of that time we will review our input with you and, of course, if you feel that you need further appointments, we will usually be happy to provide them.
We can accept a referral either through your GP or directly from yourself. We would, of course, be very happy to discuss your requirements informally before any referral is made.
All clinical sessions are held in strict confidence.
Daytime, evening and weekend appointments are offered every week at our clinic:
